How to find a Porsche

// Field guide
01Decide the missionDriver, weekend car, or investment. It changes which car is right and what you should pay. 02Pick the generationAir-cooled (356/911/914/930/964/993) holds value; water-cooled (996/997) is the value entry. 03Read the marketUse the trends above. Know the median and the spread for the exact model before you view a car. 04Inspect the evidenceMatching numbers, service history, rust in the usual places (kidney bowls, sills, battery box), and a proper pre-purchase inspection. 05Buy the seller, not just the carHistory, honesty, paperwork. Then have it independently valued before you sign.

Porsche 550 Spyder — the first Porsche built purely to race: ~90 cars, four-cam Fuhrmann flat-four, featherweight aluminium. Versions: 550, stiffer 550A, later RS evolutions. Most valuable: period works racers with documented history — multi-million territory, traded privately. Owners speak of it like an heirloom: alive at any speed, the purest link to Porsche's racing birth. Market: museum-grade blue chip — supply fixed forever, provenance is everything.

About

// The person behind it
Mariss — OdaFab, blue-ink drawing

Twenty years of cars, good people and a lot of fun along the way.

I am Mariss. Cars and mechanics have always been part of my life. It started in the countryside with my brother, riding and fixing mopeds, with our grandfather teaching us along the way. Cars came in high school, and my dad passed on what he knew. Twenty years of projects followed, from funny little things to full engine rebuilds, and finally the Porsche world, where every car is a step higher. Through it all, two things stayed the same: the process and the people. OdaFab is a spontaneous idea: connect around the hobby. And a perfectly rational one: find your next Porsche. Enjoy.
